Round One - Complete

Goodness gracious... moving overseas is quite the process!!

According to the title, round one is over, when actually, I don't even know when round one began. With all of the paperwork, selling the house, B's training, and lots of decision-making, this process all began in late January, and it's nice to finally start to see the finish line.

Round one of shipments, however, is officially complete. This morning our Unaccompanied Baggage (UAB) was packed up and sent on its merry way. UAB is about 900 lbs worth of stuff that will arrive in Italy about one week after we get there. Our Household Goods (HHG) will take a few months to arrive, so this shipment has to carry us over through then.

It's very hard to gauge what we will need, let alone what 900 lbs looks like. Luckily, since we don't have any kiddos yet, we were able to be fairly selfish when making decisions on what to pack. Conveniently, in Italy we should be able to borrow basic furniture and kitchen necessities from the base. As for guessing what 900 lbs looks like, we just tried to be frugal, and figured our mover would give us their expert opinion. Our UAB had to fit in a crate that was probably 4'x5'x8', and luckily everything we had set aside to be packed fit perfectly! We had a few square feet of space left in the crate, but we definitely feel

So, what did we pack?! Here's a basic rundown:

This week will continue to be eventful - B's parents arrive on Wednesday, and our storage shipment (NTS) gets packed up on Friday. So many happy things! After that, we have a little while before our HHG are picked up, and then we're homeless! Woohoo!
